The Creative Connection that draws many of us to share with one another starts out simply as a dream. Writing this blog for me at one point, was just a dream, something I was longing for. Writing a handwritten book of inspirations and watercolors of things I have learned along the way was just a thought – it was something I dreamed about, and now, because I set my intention, it is about to become a reality.
People proclaim every day ‘Believe the Dream’ – and Carl Sandburg wrote, “Nothing happens unless first a dream”……, so that got me thinking today while on my first 6 a.m. run in months, what exactly IS my dream? Many years ago, a mentor said to me that she had read: “Happy are those who dream dreams and are willing to pay the price to make them come true”~
So, THE DREAM….What does it mean to me? What does it mean to you? What is the price that I am willing to pay? What is the price that you would be willing to pay to make your dreams come true? When do you do your dreaming?
When I looked in Webster’s for a definition of DREAMS, I found the following:
- i. A series of thoughts, images, or emotions occurring during sleep
- ii. A visionary creation of the imagination
- iii. Something notable for it’s beauty, excellence, or enjoyable quality
- iv. A strongly desired goal or purpose and my favorite…
- v. Something that strongly satisfies a wish
That last one really resonates with me…to strongly satisfy a wish – one that I have had for many, many years. Following a dream involves a lot of instrospection and soul-searching. It requires a willingness and the courage to keep reaching out, seeking ways to achieve it, and I guess stick-to-it-tive-ness ( I think I made that word up) Anyway – if it weren’t for dreams, millions of products, companies, and home-based businesses would have never been realized. The ‘Art and Soul’ of a dream is that it is at first a private and special place to exercise individual creativity, to create ‘works of heart’ that will eventually be shared with others, thus completing the connections. We are so blessed to have the opportunities to believe that we can achieve self satisfaction, through our dreams.
To that end: Dreams are illustrations… from the book your soul is writing about you. ~Marsha Norman
I am so happy to be able to scribe my way through life and reach out to souls I haven’t exactly ‘met’ yet through my dreams. Do you want to DREAM with me? I sure hope so. Which direction are you headed in?
